Collages are a simple form of art that look great and are simple and easy for kids to create. To make Christmas tree collages, you need a paper plate, red or gold paint, different shades of green paper (some shiny, if possible) and a small square of brown paper.
For this activity:
- Paint a paper plate red or gold and let it dry.
- Cut small squares from the green paper, varying in size slightly. Older children can help with the cutting as well.
- On the dry paper plate, sketch a light pencil shape of a Christmas tree.
- Begin filling the tree outline by gluing the squares of green, overlapping at different angles.
- Add the brown square at the bottom for the trunk.
- Make a hole at the top for a sting or pipe cleaner that can be used to hand up your creation!
