Gingerbread Man Puppet Show

Puppets are a great way to bring a story to life! They open up a world of communication that supports the acquisition of language skills. Children love performing with puppets because they find them less intimidating than traditional acting.

For this activity:

Choose a traditional story to focus on. For this activity, we used The Gingerbread Man”.
Discuss who are the main characters of the story?
Using paper, paint/coloured pencils and lolly sticks, create simple puppets of the main characters.
Discuss the main events of the story – what are the most important parts to include?
Put on a puppet show for an audience of family members. This is an effective and fun way to reinforce recall and storytelling skills.
