Create Christmas puzzles that will help develop fine motor skills, concentration and letter/number recognition.
For this activity:
- Choose the number of lolly sticks based on how wide you want your puzzle to be.
- Lay them next to each other and use tape to secure the sticks together, for drawing.
- Turn the sellotaped sticks over and carefully sketch your chosen Christmas image over the lolly sticks, ensuring it is wide enough that there is a part of the image on every lolly stick.
- Colour in your Christmas image with brightly-coloured markers.
- For an additional challenge you can write the word describing the image on the lolly sticks, spelling one letter on each stick. Or you can write numbers in order. This can be used for spelling or number practice.
- Remove the sellotape, muddle-up the sticks and let your child put the puzzle together.
- Kids can also have a go at creating their own puzzles.
