For this activity:
- Once you have finished a text, it is important to spend time talking about the main ideas. When reading fiction, discuss the start, middle and end of the story, or the introduction, problem and resolution.
- When reading non-fiction text, talk about the main topic and ideas and any new information your child has learned.
- At the end of the story, discuss: How did the story start? What happened in the story? What was the problem in the story? What happened in the end? What did the characters learn at the end?
- Print these Reading Comprehension Discussion Questions as a guide.
