For this activity:
- Answer the addition and subtraction questions.
- Follow the instructions after each answer to colour in the appropriate number of lanterns.
- After all the lanterns are coloured, answer the additional questions. Encourage children to write the full number sentence (e.g. 5 + 2 = 7) as their answer.
- Can they think of anymore addition or subtraction questions to ask about the lanterns?
