Colour Spelling Activity

Learn how to spell colour names and practise fine motor skills at the same time with this fun, hands-on literacy activity.

For this activity:

You will need: lolly sticks, paint, clothes pegs and a marker.
Paint the lolly sticks in a variety of colours.
On the clothes pegs, write the letters needed to spell these colours.
Muddle up the clothes pegs and challenge your child to choose the right letters and clip them onto the lolly stick to spell the colour name.
If they need help, give them clues such as how many letters are in the word or help them identify the initial sounds, digraphs etc.
