Pasta String Numbers
Children must learn the shape of numbers before being able to write them with confidence. This activity uses dry penne pasta to promote number recognition.
For this activity:
- Use dry penne pasta laced onto string.
- This creates a moveable line which can be shaped into any number.
- Provide your child an image of a number to work with and ask them to recreate the shape of the number using their pasta string.
- Other manipulatives such as pipe cleaners can be used for similar activities. Repeat these types of activities often to help with number recognition.
