For this activity:
- Organise objects into rows and columns so that young children can systematically count each item and not lose track of what they have already counted.
- A simple, printed tens frame can also help to organise items into boxes. Alternatively, use an ice cube tray or an empty egg carton.
- Collect objects from around the house, organise them into rows and columns, then count.
- Write the numbers from 1 to 10 on paper. Ask your child to then match the number of objects to the written number.
