Making 10 with Play Dough Eggs

Number bonds to 10 are a very important foundation for understanding how numbers work. Practising number bonds with play dough is a fun sensory activity which brings number bonds to life.

For this activity:

  1. Using two different colours of play dough, create 10 egg shapes of each colour.
  2. Using the Making 10 worksheet, find different ways of adding the eggs up to achieve the number 10.
  3. Record your answers on the sheet. For example, 8 pink + 2 green = 10
  4. Egg cartons divided into 10 sections are very useful when teaching number bonds to 10. This is a very visual way of exploring the relationship between numbers and children can manipulate the objects to understand the concept.
