Master the concept of number doubling using our simple painting activity!
For this activity:
- Use poster or acrylic paint, preferably in bright colours.
- Find a piece of paper (any size will do), fold it in half and then unfold again.
- At the top of the paper, write your focus number in the sentence. For example, “Double 5 =”.
- On one half of the paper, add enough think paint spots to equal your focus number, e.g. “Double 5” would require 5 paint spots.
- Fold the paper in half, pressing down on the paint spots.
- Open the paper and count how many paint spots there are. Write the answer at the top of the paper after the “=” sign.
- Repeat, with different focus number.
